In February 2009 Alex Vogt came to Australia to attend the wedding of Rob Irwin, one of his best mates, who lives in Australia. Alex and Rob had spent nearly a year together in 2003 travelling from Darwin to Perth and have remained close friends ever since. While visiting Mansfield in Victoria Australia, Alex was introduced to Mike Irwin, Rob's father and to Alpacas. Alex took a liking to the Alpacas straight away and helped move them to safety on a day when it was over 40c and with the threat of Bush Fires. And so this was the start of Teutonia partnership between Alex Vogt and Mike Irwin. A partnership that has evolved over the last two years.

Our alpaca farm is lying in the little heart of the Flemish Ardennes, between the Old Kwaremont and the Paterberg, well-known as the peloton in the cycling world. We decided to only breed good alpacas of the most important bloodlines.These alpacas should form the foundation of the herd, which we plan to reinforce yearly by an alpaca stud male of a good bloodline and with good qualities. It seems to be a lot for such a small herd, but it is our wish to enlarge a good cover service, which is only possible with a diversity of good cover females of different bloodlines and types, as well in terms of fineness as in terms of density and appearance
