The Ridley family have been breeding pedigree livestock on their hill farm on the Northern edge of the beautiful English Lake District for more than thirty years. Haltcliffe Swaledale and Blue Faced Leicester sheep were the First pedigree breeds followed by the Haltcliffe Limousin and Charolais herds, with the Haltcliffe Texel sheep flock being establied in 1990.

The Alvecote herd of pedigree Dexter cattle was named after the tiny Warwickshire village where it was founded ten years ago with the purchase of two heifers and is now, well established here in Ceredigion.Both short and non-short cattle are kept here and although the majority of our stock is red, we also have a few black ones as well.

Situated at 1000 feet (300m) in a secluded valley in Mid-Wales, but only 8 miles from the famous Royal Welsh Showground at Builth Wells, living here can be tough and the hardy Dexter cattle are ideal. They come originally from the West of Ireland and have always been known as the "smallholder's cow" since they are thrifty, easy to look after, and provide exceptional quantities of high quality beef and milk from a proportionally lower input than other breeds of cattle.
