Cosy Hens

We are a family business, based near Usk in South Wales, that specialise in breeding traditional and rare breed poultry. We also build a range of poultry houses designed to be practical, attractive and long lasting. Our poultry are home bred and live contented, stress free lives in large grass runs. We have many different breeds of birds for sale and dependent upon the time of year, we can supply hatching eggs, chicks, growers, point of lay and breeding groups. All our birds live in our own range of quality timber houses, so visitors can see them being used as intended. Our houses look great in any setting and are designed with you and your birds in mind.

Welcome to AJR Poultry - breeders and suppliers of quality poultry and equipment based in Llanellen, near Abergavenny in South Wales. We are a family-run business, set up about eight years ago. Our twin commitments are to keeping quality chickens, ducks and geese in the best possible conditions and supplying the public with a broad selection of happy, healthy birds - most of whom are kept outdoors to view. We believe that we stand apart from our competitors by offering a 14-day money-back guarantee on all birds supplied (over the age of 12 weeks). Why not visit our Farm Shop for quality produce.

Blackrock Layers

We started with six, we now handle thousands of chicks per year and keep two small laying flocks on the mountain. Our laying hens range outdoors in all weathers. We rear all the birds indoors upto 8 weeks of age then free range rear as the weather permits, confining them on sale days so they are easy to catch !!! Beware of cheaply 'cage reared' birds which dominate the market and do not make impulse purchases at shows, do your homework and buy direct from breeders or growers where the birds have not been moved to/from other premises bringing problems with them.
