My Farm

I'm writing to tell you about MyFarm, a brilliant new project by the National Trust (NT) which is giving 10,000 'Farmers' with no experience the chance to run a real working farm (Wimpole Home Farm near Cambridge) via the website

www.my-farm.org.uk The aim of the project is to increase people’s knowledge and interest in food production and farming.

The decisions MyFarm Farmers make (through regular voting) cover every aspect of the farm: what crops to grow, what breeds of animal to stock, and what equipment to invest in.

I have learnt so much already! We have already decided that wheat should be planted in Pond Field (rather than oats or barley) and we'll soon be voting on [what sheep to breed].

I'm such a big fan that I've offered to help NT spread the word about it. It's genuinely fascinating for anyone who wants to know more about where their food comes from (and you also get to watch baby animals being born live!). I thought it would be something you and your [members/colleagues/organisation/class/family/friends] might be interested in taking part in.

It's £30 and you get a free family pass to visit the farm and the beautiful Wimpole estate which is worth £38. Remember it’s one membership one vote so a teacher can sign up a group of children for the same price
