There has never been a better time to grow your own...

As food prices continue to soar, there has never been a better time to get out into the garden and begin growing your own fresh fruit and veg.

We reported in January that UK families’ food bills were rocketing as prices increased at nearly twice the rate of inflation (3.7% in January), with some basic foods such as tinned tomatoes, orange juice, and flour costing double what they did in 2010.

This week it was reported that food prices rose 1.3% between April and May this year – This is putting upward pressure on inflation, which remained at a two-and-a-half year high last month.

Food inflation was boosted by fruit, which rose by 4.7% between April and May, with grapes showing big increases.

As the impact of these increased prices hits both buyers and sellers in the marketplace, more and more people are heading out to their gardens, allotments, and local community market gardens and growing their own fresh produce.

This is where Premier Polytunnels come in…

A polytunnel is the best tool that a fruit and vegetable gardener can have, allowing you to grow your own food all year round – despite what the weather outside may be doing!

Growing your own fruit, veg, and herbs not only saves money, it also reduces your carbon footprint and allows you to carry the taste of sweet satisfaction around in your mouth! Home-grown foods are tastier and higher in vitamins.

Polytunnels have become the structure of choice for everyone from the hobby or amateur gardener to the commercial grower as they produce increased yields and reduce diseases that can damage plants. A simple and economical way to cover a large area, a polytunnel puts you in control of nature… Weather, pests, watering, and ventilation are all under your control.

Premier Polytunnels supply a wide range of Garden and Commercial Polytunnels, from 6ft wide x 8ft long up to 24ft wide x 90ft long. Premier Cloches (available to be covered with polythene, shade net, or fruit cage/anti bird net) are also available and make the perfect plant protector for customers growing in a limited space, such as patios, yards, and raised beds.

In a ‘Premier’ polytunnel Spring begins earlier and Winter is kept outdoors, so why not get the whole family involved and start enjoying the advantages of a healthy, self-sufficient lifestyle today!
