Battery Hens Rescue - Ex Battery Hens
| | The British Hen Welfare Trust The British Hen Welfare Trust (formerly the Battery Hen Welfare Trust) is a national charity that re-homes commercial laying hens, educates the public about how they can make a difference to hen welfare, and encourages support for the British egg industry. Its ultimate aim is to see consumers and food manufacturers buying only UK produced free range eggs, resulting in a strong British egg industry where all commercial laying hens enjoy a good quality life |
| Fresh Start For Hens We are an independent group with the objective of rehoming battery hens which would otherwise be slaughtered. We have grown into a nationwide organisation, with volunteers working all over the country and helping us to distribute the hens in localities as far apart as Durham, Newport Gwent ,Hastings and Rochester. Although we have many local groups, we work cooperatively and we all respect the same Code of Conduct. | |
| Chicken Out - Chicken Welfare Around 90% of UK chickens are reared for meat in standard intensive systems. This chicken is usually the cheapest on the supermarket shelf and the meat found in most sandwiches and restaurant meals.Through the Chicken Out! campaign, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Compassion in World Farming are reaching out to consumers, politicians, producers and retailers to put an end to the intensive ‘factory’ farming of chickens. | |
| Preparing for your rescued hens by BHWT There’s very little that beats the feel-good factor of using your own produce to prepare meals for yourself and your family, especially when that includes going out to the garden and gathering eggs from your own chickens | |
